This server is currently undergoing an FSCK (File System Check).
A file system check can happen when a server is rebooted and the
file system reports possible instability. Essentially, this is a
procedure in which disks with corruption are repaired file by file,
to maintain disk integrity and prevent data loss, or to prevent
total disk failure. This isn't typical maintenance, and is done in
response to extraordinary circumstances.
This is the equivalent of when windows asked you if you want to
have it check your system for errors after a bad reboot.
The FSCK will attempt to fix the system by manually checking the
file or replacing it with a previous back up (where available). If
the system finds a file that needs this it can take anywhere from 1
minute to 45 minutes to correct and once corrected it will start
the FSCK process over.
This is to check for issues that it may have caused with previously
checked files. If it finds many files this can cause a longer
delay, if it finds few files it will cause a short delay. For this
reason we cannot estimate how long it will take as it is, for all
intents and purposes, a system procedure that runs on its own and
should not be stopped. We are trying to get the server back up and
running as soon as possible.
